It's Time to Snowshoe Again!

We've had two snows already and this last one was enough to go out for a good snowshoe romp….. only 2km from home!Thankful for a friend to go with!

It's pretty rare for it to clear up and not rain after it snows. So we enjoyed the view!

We had a fabulous view of everything WHITE!!!

To Spain & Back

Attending the LDC is the most refreshing thing I've done in a loooong time! I wasn't in Europe just enjoying warmer weather, but being invested in as a leader is pretty rare.

As leaders we were taught/challenged in spiritual, strategic, servant,  self, shared, structural & sensorial leadership. Taking care of ourselves through sabbath rest, dealing with workaholism, self-awareness, self management, social awareness, relational management, setting goals and a passion statement! Lets just say they did a great job cramming 12 weeks of information into 6 weeks! :) Quite often I was on overload, but I managed to get through it.

Each week we were challenged to make action points so we can continue to make good changes in our lives to be healthier people and leaders.

Looking into the future with hope and courage!

Blessings!

The Rain in Spain - Part 5

The third week of the LCD was about our Signature Sin and Conflict. Kind of a heavy topic, but I’m learning some great things!
Good quotes from the week:
  • Bottom line of our sin is - We don’t need God. OH BUT I NEED HIM.
  • We need community to help us where we are unaware of our sin. When it’s up to us, we always think we’re better than what we are.
  • We judge everybody else by their behavior, but we judge ourselves by our intentions. Ouch!
  • Leaders are learners; we don’t have to know everything or be experts or be in control!!! How freeing!
In the middle of the heavy topics we had a Blessing Workshop. There were different ways we could receive blessings, so I chose to attend a few. The one that meant a lot to me was the Memorial Alter. I celebrated a fruitful seven years of Y in Wyoming! Leaders prayed for me and blessed the fruit of my time there. I had a blast cheering for my friends as they celebrated their memorial! There was a blessing for the meaning of my name! My name means Honey - All Sweetness. What does your name mean?

The Rain in Spain - Part 4

Week 2

We studied the different phases that everyone goes through in life.
1. Sovereign Foundations
2. Discipleship Phase
3. Ministry Development
4. Wilderness Experience
5. Convergence

Of the people in the Bible, only 30% made it to Convergence. Yikes. What we don't learn(deal with) in Ministry Development will come back to bit us in the Wilderness. So, I'm really challenged to deal with my stuff and learn so that I go through the Wilderness well.

The Rain in Spain - Part 3

My first sunrise in Spain! I'm really happy to be living outside the city with a 15min walk to classes everyday!
The first week of the course was FULL ON amazing! Lots of ministry time with prayer, worship, tears and breakthroughs! We did the DISC Personality Profile to find out how we tend to lead.

Personalities and the value they bring to a team:
D - Developer - Takes initiative
I - Influential - Influences people
S - Stable - Builds relationships
C - Conscientious - Focuses on details

Now everyone is labelling each other as D, I, S, or C and having a little fun saying "you're doing that because you're an I" or "That's my C coming out"! It's very enlightening. I feel that this has shed a WHOLE new light on the way I see myself and the way I see others. Not to put us all in boxes, but I understand why I would see things differently than others. I would encourage everyone to take the profile test if you can. I am a C with S as my secondary personality. If you have and know what you are, I'd love to find out what you are! :)

I was being hard on myself for being a C so a friend shared this analogy with me. A shepherd is like a D leader while the sheep dog is a C circling the herd of sheep making sure they are safe and going in the right direction. Wow! I'm making every effort to embrace my gifts - Ps 139!

We see sheep in the field at least once a day and we run into him moving his herd around a few times a week.

Rain in Spain - Part 2

Last year my team and I all took the Strengths Finder test to find out what our top five(out of 34) strengths are. I found that my top five explained a lot about me and the way I work. It's like I breathed a sigh of relieve to find out what mine were! They are: Responsibility, Belief, Discipline (I was surprised), Empathy, & Achiever (this one explains a LOT). A blessing and a headache?! I'd encourage you to get the book and take the test (takes about 20 min online) and find out more about yourself.

This is one of the tests to be done next week, so one down and six more to go.

If you've done this test, I'd be interested to know what your top five are! :)

The Rain In Spain - Part 1

It's been WAY too long since I've posted anything on here. I'm traveling again.... and to SPAIN of all places! Back in March I was praying for direction and the Leadership Development Course (LDC - not to be confused with LSD - lol) came to mind more than once. I looked into the LDC my friends are involved with in Spain and found out that the course was full. I felt strongly that I was supposed to pursue this, so at the advice of my friend I asked to be put on the waiting list. The timing seemed right as I wasn't going on a recruiting tour this spring. I knew it would be short notice if it actually happened, so I started making plans and gathering supplies to go. I applied, was accepted, and two weeks ago I was told there was a spot for me to attend. I've bought a ticket and I fly out the evening of Friday, April 26th!

The LDC is for people who have been leaders (with the company I've been with) for 4-5 years. The purpose is to disciple, mentor and help leaders lead within their strengths and giftings. I'm looking forward to learning along side the 20 other delegates from Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America. Even though I feel I've met a LOT of others doing like minded things, it'll be nice to know that other people/leaders have gone through some of the same struggling, wrestling, and even rejoicing!
